Along with brighter days, warmer temperatures and good feelings, spring also serves as a reminder that it’s time to tend to our homes after a long, harsh winter. This is why in the mid-19th Century, the term “Spring Cleaning” came into common use in England. It wasn’t long before the tradition spread to America. Our ancestors picked up the habit of giving their homes a thorough scrubbing every March, because it was warm enough to open every window, but still not time for the arrival of those pesky flying insects. Also, with their coal furnaces turned off for the year, Americans of an earlier era could remove a winter’s worth of soot from walls and furniture.

America today honors this tradition by celebrating National Spring Cleaning Week at the end of every March. Brook Painting Atlanta’s trusted company  likes to remind people at this time of year, that spring cleaning should not stop at the interior walls of a home. Along with dusting shelves and throwing away those old souvenirs from last summer’s cross country road trip, home owners should give the outside of their home a complete spring cleaning too, says David.

Perfect Power Wash offers an extensive variety of services that will help get a home’s exterior in top shape this spring. These include power washing driveways, patios, stoops and decks as well as power washing  siding.

The power washing services offered by Brook Painting’s team of highly trained professionals are safe, fast, effective and environmentally friendly. A recognized expert on power washing.

Power Wash offers unparalleled speed of service. The professionals who staff those vehicles are not only fast, they also know their way around the block when it comes to home exterior cleaning. For example, Brook Painting’s team have power washed the exteriors of over 40,000 homes in Atlanta, GA and it’s surrounding areas. As far as power washing concrete goes, they’ve cleaned over 20 million square feet of driveways, enough to cover 400 football fields.

A call to have a Perfect Power Wash should be on every home owner’s “Spring Cleaning To Do List.” David and his staff are Happy to answer any questions. Here is a brief guide to some of their services:

  • DRIVEWAYS AND CONCRETE – Despite its great strength, concrete is a very porous material. When debris and water gets trapped in the tiny pores below its surface they can cause considerable damage. Perfect Power Wash protects the concrete in driveways, patios and other areas around the home with a three-step process that begins with the application of a cleaning solution.
  • HOME SIDING – Winter is rough on home siding; its winds and storms often bringing contaminants that can become trapped within crevices. Perfect Power Wash’s Safe Pressure House Washing System works to remove debris from all types of siding, from vinyl and aluminum, to brick, wood and stucco. The process includes a do application of biodegradable cleansers to remove contaminants from siding.  This is followed by a selective  and Perfect Power Wash’s signature double fresh water rinse

Giving your home’s exterior a spring cleaning with Perfect Power Wash will not only enhance its appearance, it will also protect your family by removing potential health hazards posed by contaminants – and it will save you money as well. Of course, cleaning the exterior of your home can also make you money. Turning to the pros at Brook Painting for Power Wash will help you realize the benefits of home exterior cleaning quickly and easily. Using their professional service saves money over less effective do-it-yourself options that call for using rented equipment. It will also let you finish your cleaning faster, which is a good thing, because this will give you more time to get out an enjoy the party nature throws every year around here during our beautiful Georgia  spring.

Importance of color in daily life

Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long believed that color can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions. “Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions,” the artist Pablo Picasso once remarked.

Color is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions.

Certain colors have been associated with increased blood pressure, increased metabolism, and eyestrain.

So how exactly does color work? How is color believed to impact mood and behavior?

What Is Color Psychology?

In 1666, English scientist Sir Isaac Newton discovered that when pure white light passes through a prism, it separates into all of the visible colors. Newton also found that each color is made up of a single wavelength and cannot be separated any further into other colors.

Further experiments demonstrated that light could be combined to form other colors. For example, red light mixed with yellow light creates an orange color. Some colors, such as green and magenta, cancel each other out when mixed and result in a white light.

If you have ever painted, then you have probably noticed how certain colors can be mixed to create other colors.

“Given the prevalence of color, one would expect color psychology to be a well-developed area,” researchers Andrew Elliot and Markus Maier have noted.

“Surprisingly, little theoretical or empirical work has been conducted to date on color’s influence on psychological functioning, and the work that has been done has been driven mostly by practical concerns, not scientific rigor.”

Despite the general lack of research in this area, the concept of color psychology has become a hot topic in marketing, art, design, and other areas.

Much of the evidence in this emerging area is anecdotal at best, but researchers and experts have made a few important discoveries and observations about the psychology of color and the effect it has on moods, feelings, and behaviors.

Of course, your feelings about color are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experience or culture. For example, while the color white is used in many Western countries to represent purity and innocence, it is seen as a symbol of mourning in many Eastern countries.

The Psychological Effects of Color

Why is the color such a powerful force in our lives? What effects can it have on our bodies and minds?

While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have universal meaning. Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange, and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.

Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple, and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.
